5 suspected militants detained in Khost
KHOSTCITY (PAN): Five suspected militants were detained during a joint operation by Afghan and international forces in the southeastern province of Khost, officials said on Tuesday.
The five-day anti-militant operation was launched two days ago by Afghan police and the International Security Assistance Force in Baak and Sabari districts, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakim Ishaaqzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The joint forces arrested five people on suspicion of cooperating with Taliban fighters in Baak district and they are now under interrogation, he said.
Separately, two missiles fired from an unknown direction on Monday night landed near Gurbuz district headquarters, causing no casualties, he said.
The troops detained three more suspected militants on Monday in Sabari district of the province.
