Laghman official killed in roadside bomb
JALALABAD (PAN): The former head and current member of the provincial council, Moalim Malang, was killed on Tuesday in a roadside bombing in the eastern province of Laghman, officials said.
The explosion took place at 8:30am when his vehicle struck a roadside bomb in Shekhan Qala area on the outskirts of Mehtharlam, the provincial capital, provincial police chief, Col. Aziz Gharani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Malangwas on his way home from his farm with his son when the incident occurred, he said. The son was injured.
The dead body of the provincial council member and his injured son were taken to hospital, director of public head department, Dr. Abdul Latif Qayumi, said.
The injured boy was in stable condition, he said.
No one has so far claimed responsibly for the blast.
