169 kg drugs seized in Nimroz
ZARANJ (PAN): Police have seized 169 kilograms of drugs in southern Nimroz province near the Iranian border, officials said on Wednesday.
The drugs, including opium, were seized on Tuesday night during a border police patrol in Sher Ahmad village of Kang district near the border, a police official, Col. Ghulam Haidar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Five people who were carrying the drugs fled over the border when they saw the police approaching, leaving the drugs, Maj. Ali Ahmad, commander of second squad of border police, said.
Five days ago, 338kg of opium was seized from a car near the Iranian border in Khashrod district of the province, but the traffickers also fled before police reached the area.
