Police officer, father killed in Khost bomb attacks
KHOSTCITY(PAN): A police officer and his father were killed in two bomb attacks on his car and house in southeastern Khost province, an official said on Wednesday.
Unknown gunmen threw a hand grenade into the officer's residence in Sarankot locality of Khost City, the provincial capital, late on Tuesday night, killing his father, provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Movements later, when the police officer arrived at the scene, a second bomb attached to a police ranger vehicle in front of his house blew up.
Without giving his name and rank, Ishaqzai said the officer was killed in the blast and three other policemen were injured.
Ahmad Shah, a resident, said the first explosion took place at 8pm on Tuesday night. The second blast occurred as the officer reached his front door, he said.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, asserted responsibility for both attacks, but said he had no details about casualties.
