GARDEZCITY(PAN): The US-led Provincial Reconstruction Team will launch projects worth 300 million afghanis ($6.6 million), during the new Afghan year, which starts March 21, in southeastern Paktia province, officials said on Tuesday.

Rohullah Samon, the Paktia governor’s spokesman, said 14 projects would be implemented in the next year, including a building for the information and culture department, the installation of a radio station, a dormitory for Paktia University, four sports grounds, three justice and judicial centres and some other projects.

At a press conference, Samon was joined by the director of the economic department, Mehfoz Ahmad; the head of the provincial council, Khaista Jan Ahadi and the PRT commander.

Paktia governor, Joma Khan Hamdard, promised that the existing problems of the students of Paktia University would be solved with the help of aid agencies next year although he did not elaborate.
