Kunar governor survives rocket attack
ASADABAD (PAN): The governor of eastern Kunar province survived on Thursday a rocket attack at his car traveling in a convoy in the Shegal district.
Syed Fazlullah Waheedi told Pajhwok Afghan New he was traveling to the Shinkorak area to inaugurate a vocational training centre when three rockets were fired at their convoy.
The governor said one of the rockets landed between his car and another vehicle carrying security guards, but no one was injured. Police had launched a search operation to hunt down the attackers, Waheedi said.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the assault, but he had no information about casualties.
