Helmand clash leaves 3 Taliban dead, 11 wounded

LASHKARGAH (PANinfo-icon): Three Talibaninfo-icon fighters were killed and another 11 were wounded in an overnight clash with security forces in southern Helmand province, the governor’s office said on Saturday.

A rebel commander identified as Mullahinfo-icon Zahir was among the three insurgents killed in the encounter in Baba Jee area of Lashkargah City, the governor’s media office said in a statement. Another 11 were wounded in the firefight that took place on Friday night, it added.

Meanwhile, eight Taliban, including two senior members, were arrested on Friday night by Afghan and foreign troops, the statement said. The joint forces also seized about 12 million Pakistani rupees from the detainees, including a senior Taliban, Mullah Abdullah, it added.
