NATO troops among 4 injured in grenade attack

KHOSTCITY(PANinfo-icon): Four Afghan and NATOinfo-icon-led troops were injured in a grenade attack on their joint patrol in southeastern Khost province on Saturday, police said.

The joint force was on a foot patrol when came under attack from insurgents in Borga area of Dwa Mando district in the afternoon, police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The assailants had managed to escape after the explosion that caused injuries to two Afghan and as many foreign soldiers, he added.

ISAFinfo-icon media office in the southeast in a statement denied their servicemembers were attacked in the province.

But residents confirmed the assault, saying many local and foreign security personnel were killed and wounded. They had no exact figure for casualties.

A Talibaninfo-icon spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the grenade attack.
