Teachers' salary looted in Badakhshan
FAIZABAD (PAN): Unknown gunmen looted salaries of teachers amounting to millions of afghanis after shooting dead an education official and injuring another carrying the amount in northeastern Badakhshan province, officials said on Saturday.
The incident happened two days ago in Yoftel district, the provincial education department spokesman, Roohullah, told Pajhwok Afghan News
Four armed men wearing military uniformed shot dead Anwar Baig, a member of the department's observation board, and injured a guard before looting more than 12 million afghanis from them, he said.
The amount was salaries of teachers and employees of the education department, Rohullah said.
Police chief, Brig. Gen. Sayed Hussain Safawi, said three suspects in the incident had been arrested. Currently being interrogated, the detainees are members of a criminal group, he said.
