Gunmen kill 2 civilians in Zabul
QALAT (PAN): Gunmen shot dead two civilians and injured three others in two separate incidents in southern Zabul province on Sunday, officials said.
The first shooting incident happened on the Kabul-Kandahar highway in Sangar Manda area of Shahr-i-Safa district, the district chief, Khadi Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Four people traveling in a car were attacked by unknown gunmen, killing two occupants, he said. The driver then navigated toward a nearby checkpoint, Khan said, adding a joint search operation involving Afghan and international forces had been launched in the area. The district chief suspected robbers might have been involved.
Also on Sunday, three civilians, including a woman, were injured when gunmen opened fire on their vehicle in Qalat city late on Saturday, a police official said on condition of anonymity.
A doctor on duty at the Qalat civil hospital confirmed receiving three injured people, with two of them in a critical condition.
In Khwajak Baba area of Shahr-i-Safa district, a man was killed and three others were injured when their car collided with another vehicle on Sunday.
