Khost blasts leave 2 Afghan soldiers dead, 4 injured
KHOSTCITY(PAN): Two Afghan army soldiers were killed and four others wounded in two separate bomb attacks in southeastern Khost province, officials said on Sunday.
A roadside bomb ripped through a vehicle of the Afghan National Army (ANA) in Khalbasat area of Sabari district late on Saturday, killing two soldiers on board and injuring as many others, police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakeem Ishaqzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
In the same area, Taliban hurled a hand grenade toward ANA personnel manning a checkpoint, the police chief said. Two soldiers injured in the attack were taken to hospital, he said, adding their condition is said to be stable.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabhiullah Mujahid, claimed five soldiers were killed in the roadside bombing and several in the grenade attack.
