Bomb blast wounds two policemen in Helmand
LASHKARGAH (PAN): Two policemen were wounded when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in southern Helmand province on Monday, an official said.
The policemen were taken to hospital for treatment and are said to be in stable condition, deputy police chief, Col. Kamaluddin Sherzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
After the explosion, police discovered a bomb planted nearby, on the outskirts of the provincial capital, Lashkargah, he said. The blast took place at about 9:00am.
In southeastern Khost province, an intelligence operative was also wounded in a bomb blast, police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai, said. The blast early this morning took place in Sheikh Amir area of Gurbuz district, he said.
The Taliban’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the attack and said four intelligence operatives had been killed in the Khost blast. Three policemen were killed and as many wounded in the Helmand blast, he said.
