Blast kills 1 civilian, injures 13 in Zabul
QALAT (PAN): One civilian was killed and 13 others, including three children, were injured on Tuesday in an apparent suicide blast in the capital of southern Zabul province, Qalat, police said.
The bomber, riding a motorcycle, denoted his explosives before reaching his target, police chief, Col. Abdul Malik Wahidee, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the attacker's face and body were mutilated beyond recognition in the powerful explosion that killed one civilian and injured 13 others.
An eyewitness, Abdullah, said the attacker was clean-shaved, with a scarf around his body. Several shops nearby were also damaged, he said.
A doctor on duty at the Qalat civil hospital, speaking on condition anonymity, confirmed receiving 13 injured people at the hospital. He said they included three children.
The civilian killed in the blast was identified as Habibullah, a resident of Badin village in Sewri district, another witness, Shahid Mohammad Aslam, said.
There was no claim of responsibility for the incident.
