HERAT CITY (PANinfo-icon): Talibaninfo-icon abducted two drivers of a private company and damaged a tower of a telecommunications company in the western province of Farah, officials said on Tuesday.

The Roshan mobile phone tower was damaged on Monday night when they threw a hand grenade at it in Shewan village of Bala Baluck district, deputy police chief, Col. Mohammad Ghaws Malyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

When police reached the scene, Taliban insurgents had already fled, he said.

Separately, Taliban fighters abducted two truck drivers transferring cement for reconstructioninfo-icon projects in Khak-i-Safaid district, he said.

Taliban took the drivers to an unknown location after unloading the vehicles, he said.

The incident occurred in Islamabad village, 25 kilometres from the district headquarter, he said.
