500kg explosives defused in Ghazni
GHAZNICITY (PAN): Nearly 500 kilograms of explosives were discovered and defused by intelligence officials in the southern province of Ghazni, officials said on Wednesday.
Officials of the National Directorate of Security (NDS), the intelligence agency, recovered around 500kg of explosives from a ruined house on Tuesday evening in Habib Kudalo area of Andar district, the district chief, Sher Khan Yousufzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The militants wanted to use the explosives to carry out bombings in the province, he said.
The explosives were defused with the help of foreign forces on the outskirts of Ghazni city, an NDS official said on condition of anonymity.
No one has so far detained in connection with the explosives, he said.
A cache of explosives was destroyed by foreign troops a week ago in Qara Bagh district of the province.
