3 bomb planters killed
HERAT CITY (PAN): Three people were killed when the bomb they were planting exploded in Balablok district of southwestern Farah province, officials said on Thursday.
The three were planting a mine in Dawlat Abad village of Balablok district on Wednesday night when it detonated prematurely, the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Saeed Mohammad Roshandel, said.
The three, including the leader of the gang, Mullah Ahmad, were killed, he said.
Mullah Ahmad was the brother of Mullah Raz Mohammad, a member of the Taliban military commission in the west.
The Taliban have not said anything regarding the accident yet.
On March 21, a truck hit a roadside bomb in Gulistan district of the province, killing a 3-year-old girl and injuring six of her family members.
Security officials blamed the Taliban; but there has been no comment from the insurgents.
