Dozens suffer casualties in Pakistan suicide attack
ISLAMABAD (PAN): Dozens of people were killed and wounded when a suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a security checkpoint in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa state on Thursday, government TV said.
The incident happened at about 7am in the south of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in Hango city.
According to a report by Pakistan’s state television, the suicide bomber targeted Waba checkpoint with an explosive-packed truck.
Five people including some policemen, were killed and more than 30 others were wounded, the report said.
Haseebullah, a resident of Waba area, said the explosion was so powerful it was heard in remote areas.
The checkpoint was destroyed and nearby buildings damaged, he was quoted as saying, adding that about 10 people were killed and more than 50 others were injured.
A police officer in Hango, Mir Chaman Khan, told the TV station that dozens were killed and wounded.
