Blast kills 2 Pakistani paramilitary troops
ISLAMABAD (PAN): Two Pakistani paramilitary troops were killed and three others wounded when their vehicle was blown up with a remote-controlled bomb in the troubled northwest on Friday, an official said.
The security personnel were on a patrol in Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province when came under attack in Jandol area, an officer of the force, Walid Ahmad, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said two soldiers were killed and three others were wounded in the blast that comprehensively destroyed their vehicle.
Elsewhere, Pakistani forces backed by gunship helicopters and artillery have launched a fresh offensive in the Orakzai tribal region near the border with Afghanistan, an official said.
Militant hideouts were pounded in remote parts of the lawless region, an official at the political agent's office, Ejaz Shah, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
At least eight Taliban were killed and their two training centres were destroyed, he added.
