Chardara police chief survives blast, guard killed

KUNDUZ CITY(PANinfo-icon): A district police chief on Friday survived a bomb blast that ripped through his vehicle, but one of his security guards was killed and another injured in northern Kunduz province.

The Chardara district police chief, Ghulam Moheeuddin, told Pajhwok Afghan News, he was traveling in a convoy with police and German troops when came under attack in Khalazi area at about 6am.

Blaming the attack on insurgents, he said, two suspects had been arrested in the area.

The wounded guard was taken to a nearby hospital, he said, adding the foreign troops stayed unhurt in the explosion.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
