Police arrest man in bank fraud case
The detainee, identified as Fawad, had allegedly withdrawn $400,000 (180,960,000 afghanis) from the account of an ordinary man at a branch of the private Ghazanfar Bank, in the limits of 10th police station.
Fawad was apprehended 24 hours after the theft in Shakardara district of Kabul, Gen. Mohammad Zahir, the 101st Asmayee Police Zone crime branch chief, told a press conference. However, the general did not explain how Fawad was able to steal the money
A co-accused in the fraud was at large and police had launched a search to arrest him, the police official said.
Fawad, who had no criminal record, was paraded in front of media people at the news conference.
