447kgs of drugs seized in Nimroz
HERATCITY(PAN): International troops seized 447 kilograms of narcotics and detained several people in connection with the drugs in southwestern Nimroz province, the forces said on Saturday.
The drugs, including 300 kgs of morphine and 147 kgs of heroin, were confiscated during an operation in Khashrod district, a statement issued from ISAF's media office in the province said.
A car, a satellite phone and a machinegun were recovered from the detainees, it statement said, but did not provide a specific number for the arrested people.
Khashrod district chief, Mohammad Hasham Noorzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News that foreign troops detained four people on the charge of cooperation with Taliban during an operation in Lokhi area on Friday night.
The four were relatives of a Taliban commander, Shabir Ahmad, he said.
