Taliban governor in Jawzjan detained
SHIBERGHAN (PAN): The Taliban-designated governor for northern Jawzjan province was detained along with three insurgents, while another fighter was killed, the international coalition and officials said on Tuesday.
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) raided Taliban hideouts in Traghli Afghania village of Qush Tepa district on Monday night, provincial police chief, Col. Mohammad Ibrahim, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
A Taliban fighter was killed and four others, including the Taliban governor, Ihsanullah, were detained, he said.
During the operation, international forces first bombed the area then searched for militants, he added.
The detainees were taken to the US air base in Bagram, he said.
ISAF, in a statement, confirmed one insurgent was killed and several others were detained in the operation in Qush Tepa district of Jawzjan province.
