1 killed, 5 injured over land dispute
MAHMUD RAQI (PAN): One person was killed and five others injured when two villages fought with weapons on Thursday over rights to government land in the central province of Kapisa, officials said.
The clash took place on Thursday morning as the two villages were diving the land between them in Durano area of Tagab district, district police chief, Pacha Gul Bakhthyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
One person was killed and another injured from one village, and four others were injured from the second village, he said.
The injured were taken to a French health facility in the area, but later they were taken to Bagram airfield due to their critical condition, he said.
Police had the situation under control and had detained three people, he added.
The two villages fought over who would have more of the land, with one man killed and his brother injured. Those villagers then wounded four people from another village, a witness, Faridullah, said.
The villagers had tried to claim the land for themselves two weeks ago, but police stopped them at that time, so then the villagers demonstrated.
