4 Afghan soldiers killed in Khost, Wardak
KHOST CITY/MAIDAN SHAHR (PAN): Three Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed when a roadside bomb ripped through their vehicle in the southeastern province of Khost, officials said on Sunday.
The explosion took place in Syedkhel area of Dwa Manda district on Saturday, the commander of a joint Afghan-international troops coordination centre in the region, Gen. Afsar Dost, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The ANA vehicle was also destroyed in the detonation, resident, Mir Wali, said.
Separately, a local policeman was killed in a clash with Taliban insurgents in Zewlano area of Jalrez district of Maidan Wardak, the governor's spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, said.
Taliban spokesman, Zabihulllah Mujahid, claimed five ANA soldiers were killed and their vehicle was destroyed in the Khost blast.
Another 13 ANA soldiers were killed in Koti Oshro area of Maidan Shar, the capital of Maidan Wardak province, the rebel spokesman said.
