3 insurgents killed in Uruzgan offensive: ISAF
TIRINKOT (PAN): Three militants were killed and two others were apprehended by international troops during an operation in central Uruzgan province, the alliance and an official said on Monday.
The operation involving International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) personnel was carried out in Dehrawud district on Sunday, the force said in a statement.
Several Taliban insurgents were killed and weapons and ammunitions recovered during the offensive, it said.
Commander of the fourth brigade of 205th Atal Military Corps in Uruzgan, Brig. Gen. Mohammad Zafar, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Anar Joy village of Kakrak area of Dehrawood district was targeted in the operation. He confirmed three militants were killed and two others were detained.
The operation came two days after a Taliban fighter was killed and several others detained in Sar Morghab area on the outskirts of Tirinkot, the provincial capital.
