Insurgents, burglars detained in Kunduz
KUNDUZ CITY (PAN): Police arrested two suspected militants and as many armed burglars during separate operations in northern Kunduz province, officials said on Tuesday.
The two alleged burglars were arrested during a raid on a house in Aqtash village of Khanabad district after they robbed 10,000 afghanis ($219.2) and three mobile sets from occupants of a car at 8pm on Monday, deputy police chief, Col. Abdul Rahman Aqtash, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Residents informed the police after the burglars took refuge at a house. Police surrounded the house and asked the two to exit peacefully. They surrendered to the police after mediation of tribal elders. The mobile sets and cash were returned to their owners, Aqtash said.
Meanwhile, two suspected Taliban were arrested on Monday night in Dasht-i-Archi district, according to Aqtash.
The detainees, who recently returned from a training in a Pakistani madrasa, were tasked with spying for Pakistani Taliban and planting roadside bombs against Afghan and foreign forces in Dasht-i-Archi district.
