MEHTARLAM (PANinfo-icon): Two development projects were executed in Mehtarlam city, the capital of eastern Laghman province, on Wednesday, an official said.

The projects, including a retaining wall and a building for a social centre, were implemented in Gatal and Zargar Abad areas of the city, provincial National Solidarity Programme (NSP) head, Humayun Akseer, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The schemes took six months to complete and cost 5 million afghanis ($109,553), he added.

Happy wit the completion of the projects, Abdul Aziz, a provincial council member, asked people to keep security for the projects themselves.

The retaining wall built in Zargar Abad area is 120 metres long, Akseer said, adding the wall would benefit 500 families.

Mohammad Karim, who lives in the area, said their houses were protected from flooding with the construction of the wall.
