Four Taliban dead in Badghis offensive
Militants suffered the casualties on Wednesday after a joint Afghan-international security force pursued rebel leaders, including Zher Gul, Mullah Abdul Manan and Mullah Ali Mohammad, in Mian Boon area of Qadis district, police chief, Col. Mohammad Jabar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Fighters loyal to the three Taliban leaders fought with the joint troops and as a result four fighters were killed and six others wounded, he said. Six motorcycles belonging to the insurgents were destroyed during the operation.
A resident of the area, Sakhi Dad, said that remains of the destroyed motorcycles were still lying on the site of the clash that lasted three hours.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, confirmed that the fighters had clashed with helicopters-borne foreign troops in the district, inflicting heavy casualties on the foreigners. But he did not provide figures.
