TALUQAN (PAN): Intelligence operatives have arrested a religion scholar for what they charged “misleading people through his anti-government speeches” in northern Takhar province, a senior official said on Saturday.

The scholar, Ziauddin, was arrested in Taluqan city from a mosque known as “Commander Pir Mohammad Mosque”, on Friday, the governor, Faiz Mohammad Tawhidi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Another cleric, Maulavi Abdul Satar, said Ziauddin was talking to people when he was arrested. He did not provide further details.
