MEHTARLAM (PAN) arrested three suspected militants during an operation in Alingar district of eastern Laghman province, officials said on Saturday.
The operation was carried out in Lokar area on Friday, the district chief, Qazi Mohammad Nangiyalay, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He identified the detainees as Mohammad Shafi, his brother, Ghulam Hazrat, and another person, all residents of the Lokar area.
Qayamuddin, a resident, said Mohammad Shafi was a school headmaster.
The defence ministry said the three were detained by a joint Afghan-international force in Alingar.
The men were currently being interrogated by officials at the province National Directorate of Security, the ministry said in a statement.
ISAF’s media office in Kabul also confirmed the arrests.
