SAR-I-PUL (PAN fighter was killed and two others were arrested during a clash with police in northern Sar-i-Pul province, an official said on Sunday.
A machinegun, four motorcycles and some ammunition were also recovered from the insurgents, acting provincial police chief, Col. Ahmad Shah, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The clash broke out when a group of insurgents attacked a police checkpoint in Haoz-i-Mohammad Omar area on Saturday night.
Qudratullah, a resident, also said police had arrested two Taliban insurgents.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, confirmed the overnight clash, but said their fighters suffered no casualties. A policeman, a motorbike and a ranger-pickup were seized by the Taliban, Ahmadi claimed.
The incident came three days after one militant was killed and six others wounded in a clash with police backed by area people in Gusfandi district.
The Gusfandi district police chief was killed on Friday when Taliban fighters ambushed his vehicle traveling in a convoy.
