HERATCITY (PAN): A joint Afghan-international security forces arrested seven suspected militants in the western province of Farah, officials said on Monday.

The operation, also involving Afghan intelligence operatives, was carried out in Bala Baluk district on Sunday, police headquarters commander (operations), Col. Mohammad Munir, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The detainees cooperated with Taliban insurgents in Shiwan village of Babaluk district, he said.

Police spokesman in western zone, Col. Abdul Rauf, also confirmed the operation, but gave no further details. Some weapons and ammunitions were also seized, he said.

Separately, a policeman was killed when his gun accidentally fired in Lash Wa Javeen district of the province. The policeman was cleaning his gun when it went off, Munir, said.

Also on Sunday in the same district, three people were killed and four others injured in a roadside bombing.
