KANDAHARCITY (PAN): Poppy crops grown over more than 200 acres of land was eradicated during a campaign in southern Kandahar province, an official said on Monday.
The poppy eradication campaign, involving special police and counternarcotics police, was carried out in Malazi, Asida, Sher Ali Karez villages of Maidwand district, the governor’s spokesman, Zalmay Ayubi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Afghan security personnel suffered no casualties during the campaign, he said.
Nearly 1,500 acres of land was cleared of poppy crops during the drive that began last month in different parts of the province.
