KABUL members on Wednesday agreed to amend rules of business to allow President Hamid Karzai to reintroduce rejected ministers-designate for a vote of confidence.

Since his reelection in the 2009 presidential vote, Karzai had introduced his picks for the 25-minister Cabinet in three phases, but only 19 of them were able to get the trust vote from the Parliament.

Still ministries including, the public health, urban development and water and energy are being run by acting ministers despite the expiry of their tenures.

In the past week, a presidential spokesman told a press conference that President Karzai will soon name his remaining ministers in near future.

The Wednesday’s session was exclusively called to debate over the house’s 76th article of internal procedure that says a rejected minister designate can not be reintroduced for the same position.

The article can be amended with a one-thirds majority of votes from the MPs. Of the 127 lawmakers present, 125 cast their votes in favour of the amendment.

Deputy speaker, Khalid Pakhtun, said that now the government was able to reintroduce the rejected people for the slot of minister.
