WASHINGTON (PAN): A US Army contractor has pleaded guilty in relation to stabbing an individual with a knife at the Kandahar Airfield, the Justice Department said on Monday.
Sean T. Brehm, hailing from the Cape Town city of South Africa, faces a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison at a sentencing, scheduled for July 8.
According to court documents, the stabbing took place on November 25 last year, when Brehm was working as a contractor for DynCorp International LLC, a US Army contractor in Afghanistan.
The attack resulted in serious bodily injury to the victim, who underwent emergency surgery. The defendant was charged under the Military Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Act (MEJA), a statute that gives US courts jurisdiction to prosecute crimes committed outside the United States.
