Muay Thai, handball teams off to Iran & Pakistan

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): The Afghan Muay Thai team left for Iran to participate in the Asian Championship and the handball squad departed for Pakistaninfo-icon to take part in a tripartite handball tournament, officials said on Thursday.

Eight athletes in the 45-75 kilograms weight category would take part in Asian Muay Thai Championship in Iran, head of Afghanistaninfo-icon's Muay Thai Federation, Amir Hussain Hussaini, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A three-member official delegation was accompanying the team, he said, adding that 20 countries were participating in the event.

Meanwhile, the national handball team left for Pakistan. Olympic Committee spokesman, Mujibur Rahman, said the three-nation tournament, featuring Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Pakistan, would be conducted in Faisalabad city of Punjab.
