GHAZNI CITY (PAN fighters were killed in a clash with security forces in southern Ghazni province, where three suspected insurgents were arrested, officials said on Thursday.

The clash between militants and Afghan soldiers erupted in the Laram area of Muqar district late on Wednesday, said Brig. Daud Shah Wafadar, the commander of the 203rd Thunder Military Corps.

The army personnel stayed unhurt in the gunbattle that left six militants dead, he said.

But the district chief, Sahib Khan, said four militants were killed and four others wounded in the firefight. Foreign nationals were among the dead and wounded, he said, but did not give their nationalities.

Elsewhere in the province, five roadside bombs were recovered in the Sangar village of Deh Yak district, according to Wafadar. He said two men were arrested on suspicion of having planting the mines.
