KABUL): Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigmi Y. Thinley was accorded a warm reception at the Kabul airport on arrival in the Afghan capital on Sunday, the Presidential Palace said.
Thinley, who is also president of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) for the current year, arrived in the afternoon when French Defence Minister Gerard Longuet was in Kabul.
Longuet, expected to meet with Afghan officials and troops from his country, arrived on an unannounced visit. The defence ministry confirmed the visit, saying he would meet his Afghan counterpart, Gen. Abdul Rahim Wardak.
Francehas 3,850 troops under NATO.
The Bhutanese premier proceeded in a convoy to the Presidential Palace, where he met President Hamid Karzai.
