GHAZNICITY (PAN): Six policemen were killed in a roadside bombing in the southern province of Ghazni on Monday, officials said.

The blast took place when a police vehicle hit a roadside bomb in the Peerka area of Khogyani district, the district chief, Habibullah Bashi, told Pajhwok Afghan News. Six policemen were killed and their vehicle destroyed, he said.

Provincial police chief, Col. Zarawar Zahid, confirmed the incident and fatalities.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said eight policemen including a checkpoint commander were killed in the attack. But Bashi denied the killing of any checkpoint commander.
