KABUL): Afghan under-19 and zonal cricket teams would tour Peshawar, the capital of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the cricket board announced on Tuesday.
Spin Ghar, Amu, Bost, Miss Ainak and Band-i-Amir clubs from the five zones will stay in Peshawar from April 25 to May 21 for warm-up matches at the Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium and Gymkhana Ground.
A statement from the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) said that national team members would accompany the zonal outfits to the neighbouring country.
The objective of the tour is to enable upcoming cricketers to gain exposure and learn from the experience of their seniors, according to ACB Chief Executive Nasimullah Danish.
He hoped the tour would help the board pick talented players for Afghanistan-A and national squads. He said the police chief the Peshawar police chief had promised complete security of the players.
