17 rebels killed in Kunar airstrike

ASADABAD (PANinfo-icon): Seventeen insurgents were killed in an airstrike by the International Security Assistance Force in eastern Kunar province on Wednesday, a senior official said.

The air raid was conducted on a militant hideout the Sabandai area of Dangam district, Governor Fazlullah Wahidi told Pajhwok Afghan News.

A Pakistani and an Arab were among the dead, he said, adding the airstrike also killed an Afghan woman and wounded her two children. A team has been sent to the site for investing the incident.

However, the ISAFinfo-icon media office in the eastern zone said it was unaware of the bombardment.

A Talibaninfo-icon spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, acknowledged the loss of 10 fighters in the strike. He claimed nine civilians, including two womeninfo-icon, were also killed.
