JALALABAD (PAN-led forces on the busy Jalalabad-Torkham highway in the eastern province of Nangarhar on Wednesday, an official said.
The attacker blew himself up near an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) convoy in the 4th Farm neighbourhood of Jalalabad, the provincial capital, the Batikot district chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Niamatullah said the assailant detonated his explosives-laden car next to foreign troops. A passerby was wounded but the soldiers suffered no casualties in the assault, the district chief added.
Afghan and international forces surrounded the scene after the powerful explosion, said a witness, who had no information about the casualties.
As usual, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid asserted responsibility for the attack, identifying the bomber as Usman. He claimed 10 foreign soldiers were killed and wounded.
But the ISAF media office in Jalalabad rejected the insurgent claim as baseless, saying the bombing took place far away from the convoy. It confirmed injuries to a civilian.
