MAIDAN SHAHAR (PANinfo-icon): A relative of the Hezb-i-Islamiinfo-icon Afghanistaninfo-icon (HIA) chief has been killed by NATOinfo-icon-led forces in the central province of Maidan Wardak, a spokesman for the party said on Friday.

Gulbadin Hekmatyar's nephew, Habibullah Shahab, died during an International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) airstrike in the Nirkh district, the HIA spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Eng. Haroon Zarghoon said the victim, an eighth grade student, was in the district to participate in the "jihadinfo-icon against US forces." Some of Shahab's associates were wounded in the incident, he added.

An HIA commander, who did not want to be named, confirmed the death. The boy was a son of Shahabuddin, the former prime minister's brother. He was laid to rest in the Talfakan graveyard by area residents.

The ISAF raid came soon after an armed group positioned antiaircraft guns on a mountaintop in the Pali Wiala area, said the governor's spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid.

Four gunmen were killed during the strike, according to Shahid, who had no information about the backgrounds of the dead.
