Apr 23, 2011 - 16:33

LASHKARGAH (PANinfo-icon): Two civilians were killed and a third wounded when the car they were travelling in hit a roadside bomb in the southern province of Helmand, an official said on Saturday.

The wounded woman was taken to a healthinfo-icon facility of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) after the blast in Nawzad district late on Friday, said the governor's spokesman, Daud Ahmad.

In neighbouring Kandahar province, three fighters were killed and bombs seized during an operation by Afghan and NATOinfo-icon-led soldiers, the governor's spokesman, Zalmay Ayubi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The three insurgents were killed and a fourth detained during a joint offensive in Zherai district of the province, he said, adding that some bombs were also recovered.
