Coalition aircraft crashes in Kapisa

MAHMOOD RAQQI (PANinfo-icon): A coalition helicopter suffered a hard landing in central Kapisa province on Saturday, Afghan and NATOinfo-icon-led officials said.

"Coalition forces have recovered both crewmembers. The incident is currently under investigation," the International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) said in a brief statement.

A local official said the helicopter crashed in the Dara Ashpi area of Alasai district early in the morning. US-led forces surrounded the site immediately after the incident, said the district chief, Mullahinfo-icon Mohammad.

"Coalition copters hovered over the area an hour after the crash. The damaged helicopter was set on fire," said resident Mohammad Din.

Meanwhile, the Talibaninfo-icon fighters claimed responsibility for shooting down the chopper. All soldiers on board were killed, a militant spokesman said.
