NATO-led forces kill Taliban, civilians in Ghazni

GHAZNI CITY (PANinfo-icon): Three Talibaninfo-icon fighters and two civilians were killed in a joint operation by Afghan and NATOinfo-icon-led soldiers in the southern province of Ghazni, officials said on Tuesday.

As a result of the operation in the Khani village of Andar district, weapons and motorbikes were also seized from the insurgents, the 203rd Thunder Military Corps commander said.

Col. Daud Shah Wafadar told Pajhwok Afghan News one fighter was gunned down in Deh Yak district of the province. The combined force suffered no casualties, the commander added.

A regional Taliban commander, Mullahinfo-icon Rahmat, was among the dead. Two civilians on a motorbike were mistakenly killed by the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon), said Andar district chief, Sher Khan Yousafzai.

A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, confirmed the loss of two fighters in Andar. The rebels attacked a vehicle of NATO-led troops in the Alizai village, killing two soldiers, he claimed.
