PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): One fighter was killed and another wounded during a clash with Afghan soldiers in the central province of Logar on Thursday, an official said.
The clash erupted when insurgents attacked a soldiers and policemen who were checking vehicles in the Yahyakhel area of Baraki Barak district at about 10:00am.
Mohammad Rahim Amin, the district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the soldiers suffered no casualties in the firefight that lasted 30 minutes.
Provincial police chief, Col. Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanai, confirmed the clash but gave no further details.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed two troops were killed in the firefight. In a separate attack, three soldiers were killed in the Khazar area on outskirts of the provincial capital, Pul-i-Alam, he said.
