KABULinfo-icon(PANinfo-icon): Russia's Special Representative to Afghanistaninfo-icon Zamir Kabulove on Friday supported the ongoing peace effort and pledged his country's cooperation in this regard.

During a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Kabul, he agreed with President Hamid Karzai on strengthening trade cooperation between the neighbouring counties.

The Afghan president and his Russian counterpart had pledged to boost trade links at a meeting in Moscow five months ago, Karzai's office said in a statement.

In August 2010, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev proposed breathing a new life into bilateral economic projects in Afghanistan launched during the Soviet era.

Russiawould implement key economic schemes in Afghanistan, as the two presidents had discussed, Kabulove promised.

Strategic cooperation between Afghanistan and America, situation in the region, Kabul-Islamabad relations and the annual Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, to be held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, also came up for discussion.
