TIRINKOT (PANinfo-icon): Two policemen were killed and four others wounded when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the Chora district of central Uruzgan province on Saturday, an official said.

The blast took place in the Shinwari area at 10am, crime branch chief, Col. Gulab Khan, told Pajhwok Afghan News. The injured policemen were taken to a healthinfo-icon facility of foreign troops.

Police chief, Col. Fazl Ahmad Sherzad, confirmed the explosion, but had no information about casualties.

Witness Baryalai said two policemen were killed and three others, including the deputy police chief, were injured in the blast.

Meanwhile, a gunman opened fire at Australian troops in Tirinkot, the provincial capital, on Friday afternoon, a spokesperson for the troops said. The attacker, identified as Hayatullah, was killed in return fire, she added.
