SHARAN (PAN): Four people, including a district council head, were killed and 12 others wounded in a suicide attack in the southeastern province of Paktika on Sunday, officials said.

The suicide bombing took place at 7:30am in the Shkin border town of Barmal district, the interior ministry said in a statement. The injured were taken to hospital.

Three civilians were killed and 14 others were wounded in attack, the statement said.

Nawzad Khan, Shkin district council chief, a woman and two men were killed and a dozen others injured, the governor’s office told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Meanwhile, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said they attacked a police checkpoint in the Waz-i-Zadran district and killed four policemen. But the governor’s spokesman, Mukhlis Afghan, denied the claim as baseless.
